About Korea Tamil Sangam

Korea is reflecting lots of cultural and language similarities of Tamils. For past two decades, Tamil people from Tamilnadu, India and other parts of the globe are visiting South Korea for various purposes. Science and Engineering jobs and higher education are important professions where most of the Tamil people are engaged in. By virtue Tamil papulation in Korea are mobile unlike the Tamil Diaspora in America, Europe, Africa (mainly South Africa), Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries, (Then) where colonial power British planted Tamils, the people known for hard work, dedication and loyalty, in various parts of the globe.

The ethnic problems prevailing in Sri Lanka uprooted the ethnic Tamils from north-eastern parts of the country to Europe and America. (From) Since the last decade, many attempts have been taken to organize the Tamil community living Korea as in various forms such as personal contacts, email groups and social media. We once again attempt to organize Tamil association in Korea, having felt the need for the organization for various reasons and we tentatively name this organization as Korea Tamil Sangam(hereafter, KTS), since the Tamil word sangam is a historical name of the organizations used to serve for the Tamil language and community welfare and it is a non-profit organization formed by and for the Tamil language speaking people of South Korea and to develop a strong relationship with the Korean people interested in this organization.

The purpose of this organization is to promote the awareness of Tamil culture, Tamil heritage through social, cultural, literary, charitable and educational activities both among Tamils and Koreans. Also, (the) KTS wishes to further organizing the Tamil people living in Korea in constructive manner and promises always to uphold the task of organizing the gatherings that can convey useful information, encourage women in our initiatives, enhance people-to-people connectivity, and reflect our culture and traditions to Korean people. (the) KTS wishes to keep improving mutual fellowship between Tamil and Korean people and to serve as an equal opportunity platform for all Tamil people here irrespective of their professional status and nationality.
